Introduction
To stay competitive in a fast-moving marketplace like Hong Kong, both employees and employers are constantly under heavy work pressure which directly affects their physical and mental well-being. In order to maintain a healthy work-life balance, they need to be aware of all available support services.
But small and medium-sized enterprises are limited in resources. They may run into considerable difficulty looking for ways to provide the relevant service. So HSBC Living Business and the Caring Company of the Hong Kong Council of Social Service have jointly produced this HSBC Living Business - Employee Assistance Tool Book for SMEs. It provides SME employers and employees with information on how to promote physical and psychological well-being, as well as a guide to acquaint them with relevant services offered by various social service organisations in Hong Kong.
Launched in 2004, HSBC Living Business is a programme designed to help SMEs become more competitive and productive by implementing socially and environmentally responsible business practices. Through a dedicated website, a series of free seminars and an awards scheme, HSBC provides a platform for SMEs to acquire more knowledge and skills on sustainable business practices and to share successful experiences with peers.
The HKCSS is an umbrella organisation of over 350 agency members that provide over 90% of the social welfare services in Hong Kong. HKCSS launched the Caring Company Scheme in 2002 to build a cohesive society by promoting strategic partnership among business and social service partners and inspiring corporate social responsibility through caring for the community, employees and the environment. 1,765 companies and organisations have been recognised in the Caring Company Scheme 2008/09, of which 800 companies are SMEs. |
